Brattleboro Energy Goals are a no burger
This is how we feel about the Brattleboro Energy Goals being set forth by its committee this Tuesday. This committee sets goals without any actionable plans to meet them, and it spends a lot of time acting like reaching these goals is too expensive. The climate is an emergency, and we’ve been pushiing local government to declare it as such since 2014. This page and a half document carries no obligations or suggestions on how to bring us “Carbon Neutral by 2050,” an important goal (although many scientists insist we need to achieve this end by 2030). We see an obvious impediment to this goal by the way we heat our homes, literally setting carbon on fire. Perhaps The energy committee could spend some time looking at ways we could develop solutions about that. Anything would be more productive than this nothing burger.
